Galerie BMG, in collaboration with the Center for Photography at Woodstock (CPW) and the Howard Greenberg Gallery, is proud to host Ordinary Magic, an exhibition of photographs by internationally recognized photographer and educator, Keith Carter. The exhibition is being presented to coincide with Keith's participation at the first of the 2007 Summer Workshop and Lecture Series at CPW, marking its 30th Anniversary.

Called "a poet of the ordinary" by the Los Angeles Times, Keith Carter is the recipient of numerous awards and honors and in 1997 was the subject of an arts profile on the national network television show, CBS Sunday Morning. He holds the endowed Walles Chair of Art at Lamar University in Beaumont, Texas and received the University's highest honor in being named Distinguished Lecturer in 1998. His haunting, enigmatic photographs have been widely exhibited in Europe, The U.S., and Latin America and are included in many prestigious private and public collections, as well as nine published books and monographs.

Ordinary Magic includes twenty-four images which capture the essence of Keith's unique vision and his ability to turn simple, everyday realities into mesmerizing, poetic imagery. The photographs span many years of Keith's long and prolific career, including several images he created recently. In Keith's own words: "I think there is an element of magic in photography - light, chemistry, precious metals - certain alchemy. You can wield a camera like a magic wand almost. Murmur the right words, and you can conjure up proof of a dream. I believe in wonder. I look for it every day; I find it in the most ordinary things."

Images are available in 15 x 15 silver gelatin prints, matted and framed to 24 x 24, in editions of 35 or 50.
